Mamavation Monday, October 18, 2010

Hello ladies! A lot going on this week and then nothing at all going on too!

Basically a rest week for me because my leg has a knot in it that is making my knee hurt. I got a foam roller and I’ve been using it. It seems to be helping a lot, and I’m hoping to start running again, very gently, this week!

This is pretty much what I've been doing this week.

Somehow, even without exercising or keeping track of food, I lost some weight. It’s hard to tell how much because of my wonky scale, but I’ve lost my first 5 pounds!! Remember Leah’s video saying that losing the weight she had gained would be thought of as losing 5 pounds twice? It helped a lot!! Thank you again, Leah!

I’ve lost my first 5 pounds!!

I’m taking that “I lost 5 pounds with Mamavation” badge and sticking it in the margin! You bettah believe it! See? Look at it! I’m so proud to have earned it.

Moving Along
So excited to hear  who will be the Mamavation moms and to see how everyone does in the Move It and Lose It challenge! A lot of healthy stuff going to happen!

The Twitter party to kick off the 6th campaign of Mamavation is tomorrow (Monday, October 18) from 7-9 PM. If you haven’t already, go hit the linky so you can win prizes!! I would love to win the Tracey Mallet Fitness DVDs, the Gruve, and the Subway cards! Oh and Mama needs a new pair of EA Sports Active shoes!

Commenter of the Week
This was SOOO difficult because a lot of you did a great job this week with commenting! But, The commenter of the week is Scarlett Black (@ MMScarlett)! Not only did she comment on many posts, but she gives great comment luv! Thanks, Scarlett! We all appreciate the acknowledgment and love! Your enthusiasm is infectious! You win a 20-minute session with Pete Cohen (@Pete_Cohen) via Skype! Just tweet him and exchange info. There are several of you who also did an amazing job, but we could only pick one winner. In general this week comments were up, and not just comments but great comments! I’m proud!!

Post of the Week
The post of the week is Marie’s from Mommy’s Healthy Lifestyle. It’s toward the end of the link up so some of you might not have seen it. She documents with text and photos her family’s outdoor recreation day. This is a great way to get your family out and active without “exercising.” It is the perfect illustration of how moms (and dads) can get their kids out, breathing fresh air, moving and having fun. Check it out! Some nice photos too.

Best of luck to all of the Mamavation finalists!! I will be there to support you all, whether you “win” or not, but like Shelley (@Momma-oz) said, you all won by entering and making the commitment. I am proud of you all and have a lot of respect for you!!

  1. Injuries suck, but remember, if we don’t rest they only get worse!

Hope you have a great week. ARe you doing any better? Be careful running if you are still experiencing pain!!!

Also – completely honored you chose me as commenter of the week 🙂

Your 5 pounds badge looks amazing by the way!

Look at you! Of course you’re commenter of the week! You’re alREADy commenting!! You totally deserve it.

I’m not in any pain right now, so I’ll go run a mile and see how I feel. Won’t go fast either. Then I’ll roll out my leg and do some stretching, maybe even put the heating pad on and see what happens.

      Thanks!!!

  2. WOOHOOO! 5 lbs!!! Way to go Greta! I am so proud of you! I hope hat your leg feels better soon and that you get to take off! You inspire me so much!! ❤

  3. Aw, that’s so sucky that your leg was buggin’. Glad the roller is helping. Hopefully this week you’ll be able to do some light running. I can practically hear you chomping at the bit to get out and hit the pavement!
And what’s that I see??? A Mamavation badge? Why yes…yes I do! Congrats girl!

Maybe I just needed to slow down. I’ll be more aware of my stretching and rolling, both of which I’ll be doing daily. I really would like to get out there, but it was nice having a week where I didn’t have to do anything.

Thank you!!! You’re always there to lend some support and encouragement!!

  4. Yeah for those first 5 lbs!! 🙂

  5. I have one of those rolls too. My trainer wants me to do it all the time, but I never do. BECAUSE IT FREAKIN HURTS!!! Badly. I have the most tense muscles around. So if we ever meet IRL, just put your hands on my back and see how crazy hard everything is…and my legs, etc. I’m like a stone everywhere. That’s not what I’m supposed to feel like. Ahhh, well. LOL XXOO

  6. I saw you tweeting about your leg, I hope it starts feeling better really soon! Most of the exercise I do tends to be lower body (as you can tell because my legs are hot and the rest of me is not, haha!) so I know it’s not fun to be out of commission like that.

Congrats on losing 5 pounds!!!!!! That is so awesome and I’m so excited for you. The next 5 will be a breeze.

Congrats on the 5 pounds! I remember working at a bakery before college and seeing a 5 lb block of lard and realizing that was an impressing amount of weight to lose.

I am new to the link up and haven’t quite figured out where the post goes yet, but I hope to get to know you better and cheer you along your journey. Cheers!

  8. Skinny Sushi says:

Great job on the loss! I hope this week is great too.

  9. MrsFatass says:

FIVE POUNDS!!! I’m sending you a huge high five.

And I am SO in love with the foam roller.

    Great work this week, Sistah!

  10. I want a foam roller! 🙂 I hope you get back into action soon! Being laid up isn’t fun at all!!!

Congrats on the 5lbs!! That’s awesome! I hope you have a great week, adn you’re able to get back into running SOOOOON!

  11. Woohoo!! Your “5 lbs lost” badge looks great – congrats!! I’ve heard great things about the foam roller – I hope it’s been helpful to you too and you’re able to get back to running soon.

Thanks for being such an encourager, Greta! Love ya!

  12. Julie M says:

Greta I hope you get back to you soon. Being injured is so hard. But we do need to allow our bodies the time to rest and recover.

  13. Stella says:

Holy Cow! what a great blog entry. I checked Pete Cohen out. Just might join his weight loss programme. Very inspiring. The photo that touched my heart the most, was the young man. Thanks Greta for you inspiration.

  14. kia says:

Congrats on that FIVE POUNDS! Good luck with your hip this week. I know you want to get back out there and run.

  15. Tonya says:

Wahoooo! 5 pounds down, it’s wonderful!

I too hope your leg heals soon. It’s amazing how once we get used to doing things it’s hard to stay down and let our bodies heal!

    Better safe than sorry though.

    Hugs!

  16. lorrie says:
